The front end papers and title page have stains but the text is clean and there is no foxing. Article 1 "On Irritable Heart"; a clinical study of a form of functional cardiac disorder and it's consequences is by J M Da Costa GM 2770. And: Waldie George A Sketch of the History of the Town and Palace of Linlithgow. Linlithggow: Printed and published by A. Waldie 1843. FIRST EDITION 12mo pp. 36 frontispiece. The three works bound together in 19th century quarter red roan tan boards edges sprinkled red. A touch of spotting a few small tears to folds of map. Spine rubbed boards somewhat soiled. Slip of card identifying the author of the first work loosely inserted. Three small local history titles bound together. The first has a small piece of card with a clipped address and stamp to the reverse postmarked 1902 the slip identifies the author as Elgin Bookseller Isaac Forsyth and claims ‘This edition is known as ‘the little Isaac’ to distinguish it from a larger edition’ - Forsyth’s 1798 octavo publication ‘A Survey of the Province of Moray Historical Geographical and Political’. Library Hub records 4 locations holding this edition: BL Glasgow NMS and Aberdeen the last of which implausibly attributes it to Cosmo Innes who would have been 15 at the time of publication. Following this is a small illustrated history of Rosslyn Chapel without a letterpress title-page but apparently as issued - some libraries catalogue it with the drop-head title ‘Description of Rosslyn Chapel & Castle’ from page 1 while the NLS catalogue describes it as A set of engraved plates with a descriptive text. The final work trimmed slightly smaller than the other two is the first edition of a Linlithgow guidebook which reached a 4th edition in 1894. "Isaac Bronson was a highly successful financier of the Jacksonian era who was also one of the period's most original and influential banking theorists. Bronson accumulated his very considerable fortune in New York primarily by judicious personal money-lending operations on long-term bonds and mortgages at a cautious 7 per cent annual return supplemented by successful ventures in land speculation. In addition to wealth he had by the 1830's acquired a weighty reputation for sober financial conservatism and was regarded as an authoritative exponent of sound banking principles. 186026271<p><strong>1860 Arctic Boat Journey Isaac Hayes Exploration 2nd Grinnell Expedition KANE</strong></p><p>Henry Grinnell's second arctic expedition was a 19th-century Elisha Kent Kane voyage which in 1853 set out to find John Franklin and his lost expedition. Kane along with other crew on the USS Advance never found Franklin but were able to gather a lot of information about people geography and natural history of the Arctic region a relatively unknown region of the world.
