Condition issues include minor uniform toning worse at the sheet edges handling creases especially at the sheet edges and edge wear resulting in several small nics occurring around the sheet perimeter. Printed by Delâtre Paris. With the Cadart blind stamp in the lower-center margin. From a volume published by the Société des Aquafortistes containing sixty prints by various artists including Delacroix Jongkind Corot Courbet and Bracquemond. Published in Paris by Cadart et Luquet 1867. Each image with artist and titles at front and with the publisher's blindstamp. <br /> <br /> Tancrède Abraham was born on January 7 1836 in Vitre. He was a student at the Cogniet workshop in Paris and achieved his first public success with an etching representing the banks of the Oudon in 1863. A member of the Society of Aquafortists from 1862 Abraham collaborated with L'Illustration nouvelle and the Gazette des Beaux-Arts where he published multiple works. Cadart & Luquet unknown

Stampless cover dated April 19th 1832; one page letter to Henry Graves 1806-1892 leading London printseller saying that he has "tried to procure you a ticket for Private View at the RA without success" but he may see many more members "on the varnishing days" suggesting Sir Edwin Landseer 1802-1873 "he being on the Council has 4. I have but 2 tickets" ending "Yrs truly in haste". One-side 8vo leaf with conjugate address leaf postmarked Lamb's Conduit Street. Corner of address stuck under seal. Cooper was groom to Sir Henry Meux and in 1809 unable to afford a portrait of the horse "Frolic" to which he was greatly attached bought an introduction to painting in oils. His master bought the resulting canvas and Cooper never looked back. Henry Graves was at that time in partnership with F.G. Moon and Thomas Boys. He engraved all the most famous pictures of his day paying Landseer a total of pounds sterling 50000 for copyrights alone and 20000 to the owner of Frith's "A Railway Station" for the painting the engraved plate and the list of subscribers. In his 1860 campaign for the Presidency envelopes known to philatelists as campaign covers became campaign promoters. This envelope shows in colors an American flag the U. S. Constitution a fasces and two hands clasping above the motto "Liberty and Union". Embossed words surround the image for slavery freedom national sectional liberty victory. Embossed into the rear flap are the words "Hon. Abraham Lincoln of ILL. / For President; / Hon. Hannibal Hamlin of ME / For V. Pres." Notably the three cent stamp featuring George Washington is one of the earliest U.S. stamps with perforations which were introduced in 1857. This stamp listed as US #26 a Type III stamp has perforations of 15 1/2. In the five years this series was produced an estimated 550000000 were produced. Note: in this heavily cancelled worn stamp has a value of about $5. unknown

Minor staining. Housed in a morocco backed slipcase. 16pp. 16mo. A pocket songster printed to support Lincoln's reelection campaign in 1864 featuring a rather youthful portrait of the president on the front wrapper and twelve spirited pro-Union songs. The titles largely military in theme include such works as "Give us Noble Leaders" "The Veteran Volunteer" "Cast Your Votes for Abraham" "For Lincoln or McClellan you'll be called on to decide/ The one to save the union the other to divide" and "We are Coming Father Abraham 600000 More." <br /> <br /> The advertisements on the rear wrapper encourage readers to purchase a wide variety of Lincoln campaign badges emblems pins and photographs from the publishers. Despite Lincoln's overwhelming electoral victory in 1864 the race was rather close in Pennsylvania where this was printed - Lincoln took Philadelphia County by a scant few percent and actually failed to secure a majority in neighboring Montgomery and Bucks counties.
