A picture of this book is available upon request Mendelssohn I, 62: The author visited almost every inhabited town and district in South Africa, 'carefully noting every point of interest in the country and its inhabitants. There is a good description of Kaffraria and of the Basutos, Griquas and Bechuana countries. There is also a narrative of a journey to Great Namaqualand'. The book begins with his three month stay in Mauritius. A good description of the peoples, activities, productions, nature, flora, etc, in all the places he visited. The folding maps are of South Africa and Mauritius. Hess & Coger 5155. Theal 15: 'valuable information'.
