Starting in Detroit and ending in Quebec the book describes cities en route particular resorts and hotels: Mt. Clemens St.Clair Springs Port Huron Hotel Windermere and many more. 8 3/4 x 5 3/4" 100pp b&w ills staplebound. White illustrated card covers with a sailboat on front map of the complete line on verso. Front cover creased on one corner clean and bright. We could find no other copies. Woodward & Tiernan unknown

Silvis traveled around on the Union Pacific Railroad line. "Stereoscope & Landscape Views of Notable Points on Line of Pacific R.R. / Always on Hand." We can't find much about Silvis though a notice in Hailey Idaho in late June of 1888 announced that he was in town for a few days to take pictures through the holiday. . U.P.R.R. Photograph unknown

This is the original 1893 printing of this 56 page illustrated booklet published and distributed by the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad. It vividly describes travel by train through the Rocky Mountains in the 1890s. Illlustrations accompany the text side trips to many different sights are described in much detail. An original publication not a recent reprint. There is some staining to the covers which is also faintly visible to some margins of text. Light chipping to the cover and spine pages mildly toned some staple rust the entire text is clean and sound. 189430071St. Louis: Woodward & Tiernan 1894. Seventh edition. Paperback. 124pp. Duodecimo 20 cm Peach and black printed wraps. Good. The wraps are foxed and faded. The rear wrap is partially detached. The wraps have perhaps been discreetly glued to the spine. There are numerous losses from the paper of the spine and there are also some small losses from the edges of the wraps. In addition there are several short closed tears in the edges of the wraps. There are several very light moisture stains on the front wrap and there is a thin 1 and 1/4 inch tall light moisture stain on the fore edge of the rear wrap. The edges of the pages at the beginning are chipped and have small light stains in the bottom corners. The pages are browned. Compliments of the Passenger Department Union Pacific The Overland Route.
