Bit of sporadic soiling but overall remarkably clean and attractive -- given it's printed on a thin tissue paper a rare survivor. Timetable "No. 4" which "Takes Effect Sunday May 7th 1882 at 12 o'clock Noon" and is meant "For the Government and Information of Employes only" containing two columns headed "Trains Going West" and "Trains Going East" showing all stops for both freight and passenger trains between Milwaukee and Madison Wisconsin. Signed in large type at the bottom by J.D. Layng as General Superintendent C.A. Swineford as Superintendent and Wm. F. Fitch as Assistant Superintendent. Rare to find in ANY condition given its inherent fragility much less this attractive condition. Newly and archivally framed under UV-filtering glass with a single archival cream matte and 3/4" thick dark wood and antiqued gold frame overall dimensions 18" X 12½" -- giving it a superb period feel. unknown

First edition of this nicely illustrated catalogue touting the steam locomotives produced and exhibited by the historic Pittsburgh Locomotive Works during the Columbian Exposition. The locomotives featured included an experimental large Passenger Compound Locomotive the Mogul Compound Freight Locomotive for the Columbus Hocking Valley & Toledo Railway; a Freight Locomotive and Tender for the Cincinnati Hamilton & Dayton RR as well as a narrow gauge four-wheel saddle tank locomotive engine. Founded in 1865 by Andrew Carnegie and Thomas Miller the company quickly grew supplying quality large locomtovies for the Bltimroe & Ohio Acheson Topeka & Santa Fe Manhattan Elevated and the Union Pacific thriving until 1901 when it was consolidated into the American Locomotive Co. Mills who apparently joined the Order in 1928. His 1948 membership card is included along with eleven stapled booklets each approximately 6" x 3.5" for the years: 1938 1941 2 copies 1945 1946 1947 1948 1949 1950 1952. Approximately sixteen pages in each issue some considerably marked others unmarked. Each booklet contains hundreds of names along with the member's location seniority date and certificate number. Bound in original cream wrappers with embossed Mexican shield. In 1891 the Pennsylvania Railroad established a new Tourist Department and launched a program of offering "personally conducted" full-service tours for cross-country rail travelers. They promised "high-grade accommodations and entertainment in transit" "tourist agents especially selected for their ability and experience" and chaperons who will "remove every impediment that would deter a timid woman from undertaking a journey alone." After conducting successful tours to the Pacific Coast they set their sights on Mexico offering here a four-week itinerary including stops within the U.S scheduled for February-March 1892 that took travelers with stops in Mexico City Puella Chihuahua Zacatecas Aguas Calientes Guanajuato Queretaro Esperanza Orizaba Cholula Puebla Leon Silao Torreon and Tlaxcala. This booklet provides information about the on-board accommodations a complete day-by-day itinerary and many details about the places to be visited. A scarce item. The folding route map affixed to the inside rear cover is in fine condition with routes outlined in blue and green. Previous owner's signature in light blue pencil on front cover front flyleaf and title page a few scattered pencil markings in the margin with covers showing light wear to the spine ends corners and extremities. "The Nearside or Near-side Car was a streetcar trolley car or tram designed by in-house engineers of the Thomas E. Mitten management team which ran the Philadelphia Rapid Transit Company PRT. Nearside refers to the fact the car would pick up and discharge passengers on the “nearside†of an intersection rather than the “farside†as the previous generation of “conventional†cars did this method of operation caused frequent gridlock as the stopped cars blocked cross traffic.The cars were in service in Philadelphia from 1911 to 1955 when they were scrapped in favor of the more modern PCC streetcar." - wiki.
