New Arabic Original bdg. HC. 4to. (29 x 22 cm). Text in English and Persian; facsimile in Arabic. [xiii], [36], 612 p. Mujlî mir'ât al-munjî fî l-kalâm wa-l-hikmatayn wa-l-tasawwuf. Lithograph edition by Ahmad al-Shîrâzî. Reprinted with an introduction, table of contents, and indices by Sabine Schmidtke (Silsilah-'i Mutun va Mutala'ât-i Falsafi va Kalami 10). Al-Ahsai, known as Ibn Abi Jumhur, was the first among the Twelver Shi'is to attempt to forge a synthesis of the various intellectual strands of his time. While he started off as a theologian deeply influenced by Mutazili thought, as can be seen from his early qalam works, he set out in his late work 'Mujli...' to amalgamate Mutazilite and Asharite qalam, Peripatetic and Illuminationist philosophy, as well as philosophical mysticism in an unprecendented and unique manner. (From introduction). "His supercommentary on his Maslak al-afhâm fi?'ilm al-kalâm and on the commentary on al-Maslak entitled al-Nûr al-munjî min al-z?alâm.".

(Iran & Ottoman History Series: 7). Edited and introduced by Dr. Nasrollah Salehi. "A number of Mirza Moheb-Ali Khan's treatises on the demarcation of the iranian-Ottoman boundary have previously been published in the 'Iran & Ottoman History Series, NO. 6'. The present volume includes his three other pieces on the topic. The first, entitled 'Layehe' was written in response to the long-serving Ottoman boundary commissioner Derwish Pasha's treatise. The second, entitled 'Lehaghe' is a critical piece written in response to another Ottoman boundary commissioner Khorshid Pasha's Seyhât-nâme-i Hudûd. The third, a short pamphlet entitled 'Taz'eil', is yet another refutation of the claims of Derwish Pasha's treatise on 'The Iranian Border Delimination' (Tahdid-e Hudûd-e Iraniyye) which he published in 1269/1853 in Istanbul. These writings have been compiled in Sha'aban 1292 / September 1875. The author criticizes and refutes Derwish and Khorshid Pasha's claims to contested territories in different ways...".
Episodes from the Tadhkirat al-Auliya' ('Memorial of the Saints') by Farid al-Din Attar. 1976 reprint of the 1966 first pp. xii, 287 p., bibl. This version of a classic of Islamic mysticism was first published in 1966, allowing the one prose work by the great Persian poet Farid al-Din Attar to be recognized as thought-provoking, but also amusing.
