This version is subtitled "Dansz Les Petites Filles" which can be translated to mean "granddaughters' dance" and this is represented in the cover illustration which frames Victor Hugo as the grand-père grandfather with his granddaughters dancing underneath his portrait. Copy belonging to writer Jerome Coopersmith with his annotations in manuscript pencil to the interior of the manila folder.<br /> <br /> Based on the 1992 book written by Ruth Gruber recounting her real-life experience rescuing 1000 Holocaust refugees who were held at Fort Oswego New York after arriving in America. The play was first staged in 1993 at the California Institute of the Arts under the title "Oswego" but was later staged under the alternate title "Haven" at the Gindi Theatre in Los Angeles in 2001. <br /> <br /> Jerome Coopersmith wrote prolifically for television and the stage throughout the mid- to late-twentieth century. He is best remembered today for his writing for "Hawaii Five-O" 1968-1980 and the 1974 Christmas television special "'Twas the Night Before Christmas" but also contributed episodes for "Armstrong Circle Theater" "The Streets of San Francisco" "Combat!" "Spenser for Hire" and others. In 1965 he received a Tony nomination for the Sherlock Holmes Broadway musical "Baker Street" and wrote and co-wrote a number of off-Broadway plays.<br /> <br /> Self wrappers. No decorative cachet at left; no recipient's name/address. Along the top edge in bold blue ballpoint Livingston inscribes and signs: "My very best to Paul Johnston / Jay Livingston." Below this scattered among the remaining blank area Livingston pens SIX musical measures from six of his best-known tunes neatly penning the title beneath each: "Buttons and Bows" "Que Sera Sera" "To Each His Own" "Silver Bells" "Mona Lisa" and "Tammy." A veritable musical quotation autobiography -- "Buttons and Bows" was composed for "The Paleface" in 1948 "Que Sera Sera" for "The Man Who Knew Too Much" in 1956 "To Each His Own" for "To Each His Own" in 1946 "Silver Bells" for "The Lemon Drop Kid" in 1951 "Mona Lisa" for "Captain Carey" in 1950 and "Tammy" for "Tammy and the Bachelor" in 1957. Some creasing along edges of first leaf remainder of text block including plates quite intact lightly soiled paper loss at bottom corner of one leaf 29/30. A penciled note on the front pastedown suggests a publication date of ca. 1780. Text provides detailed explanation in French of each of the 19 plates of musical notation. The owner stamp is that of Martha Atwood an accomplished American singer and the founder of the Cape Cod Institute of Music we presume the notation found on pages eight and nine "Heart's Devotion" to be in her hand. Songs included are "To The Queen of My Heart" "Heart's Devotion" "On a Faded Violet" "As the Moon's Soft Splendour" "Good Night" and "A Bridal Song." B&W photographs One of the great musicals of the 1960s adapted from Federico Fellini's film "Nights of Cabiria." It was a triumph for choreographer Bob Fosse on the stage but a little less so in his 1969 screen adaptation which substituted Shirley MacLaine for Gwen Verdon. NOTE: Although there is no "first printing" or "first edition" statement in this copy of the book I believe it to be such and to therefore constitute an exception to the usual Random House practice for their published plays. The printed price $3.95 is present on the front jacket flap along with the printing code 10/66 at the bottom corner of the flap. In addition this was part of a collection in which nearly all the published plays were review copies with publisher's slips to document the fact; although there is no slip present in this copy I believe it to also be a review copy. If someone can show me evidence of a copy that states "first printing" however I will happily stand corrected. . Random House hardcover

NCLI also aimed to strengthen ties between American and Israeli labor sectors and promote public support for Labor Israel. The committee eventually faced financial difficulties and dissolved. <br> “NCLI was headquartered in New York City and oversaw regional fundraising offices in other cities such as Boston Chicago Cleveland Detroit Los Angeles Miami and Philadelphia…. <br> In spite of their close association the relationship between NCLI and the Histadrut was complicated….The labor involved in cataloging and assigning thousands of sponsorship opportunities transmitting monies between countries producing evidence of ongoing projects and attaching the correct names and acknowledgments to finished projects was considerable—especially in light of the fact that the organizations operated in different languages in a mostly pre-computer workplace.
