Acquaforte, 1930 circa, firmata in lastra in basso a destra. Titolo scritto a matita in basso a sinistra, firmata a matita in basso a destra Gustavo Rodella. Etching, circa 1930, signed in plate at lower right. Title written in pencil at lower left, signed in pencil at lower right Gustavo Rodella. Limited edition of 30 copies, proof 14/30. Magnificent proof, printed on contemporary Japanese paper, with margins, in perfect condition.
The work is one of 3 etchings by Signorini prepared for the Fornicazioni di Fra Mazzapicchio published by Diego Martelli of Florence and illustrated by Telemaco Signorini. This is a delightful artist's book, printed in only 100 copies. It is a collection of erotic prose attributed to the Franciscan priest Didaco di San Friano (Borgo San Frediano, in Florence), adorned with three splendid etchings by the Macchiaioli and Impressionist Telemaco Signorini. Together with "Primi passi" (1871) and "Storielline" (1876), this book makes up a triptych that is considered among Signorini's best etchings.
