Very good copy in fine internal condition, crisp plates. ~ First German edition. Translated from the Latin "Anatomicae Disquisitiones de auditu et olfactu". Exceptionally well preserved copy with all the wonderful plates fresh and bright.

L'autore (nato ai primi del '500 e morto nel 1581, fratello maggiore del letterato Domenico), di notevole ingegno, fu considerato tra i più grandi filosofi e politici del tempo ed uno dei precursori della moderna scienza psicologica (cfr. E’ questo il più importante testo greco sull’interpretazione dei sogni. “Artemidoro di Daldi in Lidia, scrittore greco (sec. 2° d.C.), nato a Efeso, ma che volle farsi chiamare di Daldi per dar onore al luogo di nascita della madre. Scrisse una “spiegazione dei sogni” (originariamente in due libri poi ampliati a cinque) di stile atticista e indirizzo stoicizzante.
