Very Good Turkish, Ottoman (1500-1928) Original autograph letter. 1 p. 'Yeni kalem. Persembe günleri çikar mizah mecmuasi...' letterhead. Signed and written to Samipasazade Sezai, (1859-1936). It starts as 'Aziz ve necib üstadim" [= My reverend and noble master]. A letter of appeal. Signed as 'Orhan Seyfi'. In Ottoman script. Dated January 17, 1927. It's written on 'Royal Bank post' watermarked paper with a black ink by a fountain pen. He is one of the poets of the literary community known as "Bes Hececiler" [= Five Syllables Movement] in the history of Turkish literature. More than twenty poems have been composed by various composers.

He mentions that his law life from entry to law school to being lawyer and politics, they were sent to someone he calls 'my brother'. In one letter he finished his script as 'your nephew'. [Autograph letters signed 'Nuri Özsan']. Nuri Özsan was a Turkish lawyer, parliament member and politician of Democrat Party. He has a significant impact on the transition to multi-party life in the Republican Turkey. He is known with his travels across the country with Ismet Inönü which are to adapt the transition to multi-party life to the people prior in 40s.

Very Good Turkish, Ottoman (1500-1928) Original b/w photograph. (14 x 9 cm). Autograph signed by Tevfik's son Said Riza Bölükbasi, who was a Turkish intellectual and author. Riza Tevfik Bey was a Turkish philosopher, poet, politician of liberal signature and a community leader (for some members among the Bektashi community) of the late-19th-century and early-20th-century. A polyglot, he is most remembered in Turkey for being one of the four Ottoman signatories of the disastrous Treaty of Sèvres, for which reason he was included in 1923 among the 150 personae non gratae of Turkey, and he spent 20 years in exile until he was given amnesty by Turkey in 1943. In this photo, Riza Tevfik with his masonic sign pin. Resna photography studio was a first Muslim Turkish photograph studio founded by Bahaettin Rahmi Ediz, (1875-1951). This is a rare autograph.

Dated 8/7/1970. Written play's name: Murtaza. As stage manager (rejisör) signed by Ulvi Ural (owner of theater house) and as stage administrator signed by famous Turkish actor Kemal Sunal, (1944-2000). He was a Turkish actor. With Hababam Sinifi, Kapicilar Krali and Davaro, Sunal gained large popularity amongst Turkish cinema goers and was famed for his character "Saban", a role he frequently played. His characters in films often reflected the problems common Turkish people faced in their country. Scarce.

Titled 'Resid ve kitabe'. He was a Turkish satirist who written 'Geçti Bor'un pazari, sür esegini Nigde'ye...'. He studied philosophy at Sorbonne University between the years of 1925-1928. He published also some important periodicals like "Uçak, Babalik Nûr, Millî Mecmua, Uludag and Yeni Fikir'. In Konya city, with Naci Fikret, they founded 'Konya Enerjetizm Philosophy School'. Some western philosophical movements presented by him firstly in Turkey (like Freud and Nietzsche). 'Dated 1946.

Very Good Turkish Original typescript letter autograph signed by Behçet Uz addressed to Nurettin Kamil Irdelp, (1902-1992), son of Neset Ömer Irdelp (Darülfünûn rector), Turkish cardiologist, author of 'Reflexions' book. Ömer Behçet Uz, was born in Buldan ilçe (district) of Denizli Province, Ottoman Empire in 1893. He studied in Izmir High School, which was later renamed to Atatürk High School, and in the School of Medicine of Istanbul University. After working in Istanbul, he moved to Izmir to practice pediatrics. In 1922, he founded 'Veremle Mücadele Dernegi' ("Society to Struggle Against Tuberculosis"). In 1931, he was elected as the Mayor of Izmir. In this post, he served for ten years. He was instrumental in establishing Izmir International Fair, erecting the Atatürk Monument, establishing playgrounds, market squares, constructing some streets. In 1941, he was elected as a Republican People's Party (CHP) deputy from Denizli Province. Between 9 July 1942 and 9 March 1943, he was the Minister of Commerce in the 13th government of Turkey. Between 7 August 1946 and 10 June 1948 in the 15th and the 16th government of Turkey, he was the Minister of Health and Social Security. After the CHP lost the parliament majority in the 1950 general election, he joined the Democrat Party. Between 17 June 1954 and 9 December 1955 in the 21st government of Turkey, he was again the Minister of Health and Social Security. (Source: Wikipedia).

Very Good Dutch Original albumen print photograph of Joseph Devos, a Dutch hunter in Belgian Congo, showing him in front of an antelope hunted and hung from the ceiling by the feet, with two Congolese natives. 11.5 x 9.5 cm. A handwritten note in Dutch on verso: "Antilope wegende 40 a 50 kilos geschoten 10 November 1911" [i.e. Antelope weighing 40 to 50 kilos shot November 10, 1911], and signed "Joseph Devos". The inscription "Belgian Congo" is seen on the stone. Four pinholes and slight chippings on corners. Overall very good condition.

Very Good Turkish, Ottoman (1500-1928) Original manuscript autograph letter signed 'Sadrazam Rifat' sent to Tophâne-i Âmire müsiri Mustafa Zeki Pasa [i.e. Grand master of Turkish artillery]. 38x24 cm. In Ottoman script. Folded. 1 p. It's an official celebration for Mustafa Zeki Pasha's achievements in the Turco-Greco War in 1897-1898. It's written in a beautiful riq'a script. Halil Rifat Pasha was an Ottoman statesman and a Grand Vizier for six years between 1895 until his death in 1901, during the reign of Abdul Hamid II. He was born in Serres (Serez) and received education in an Islamic type parish school in Salonica (Selanik), then continued to Mekteb-i Mülkiye in Constantinople. After his education years, he started to work as a mailing clerk in Vidin, then worked as secretary in the office of the Governor of Salonica. He advanced by degrees and was appointed to higher official positions by passage of time, including at Rustchuk. In 1882 he was appointed as mutasarrif of Vidin, then in 1886 he was appointed as governor of Sivas, where he started a road-building programme. He was subsequently appointed governor of Aidin (1889) and later of Monastir, where he fought brigandage units which was rife in the province. He was appointed as minister of internal affairs in 1893 . Then he was appointed as grand vizier in November 1895 . The most important events in his era as grand vizier were the riots of Sason (in 1895) and in Crete (in 1897), as well as the Greco-Turkish War of 1897 which ended with Ottoman victory. His motto in the road building campaign was "Any place where you can't go is not yours"! (Gidemedigin yer senin degildir!). Zeki Pasha was one of the most trusted Ottoman generals and statesmen of the Sultan Abdulhamid II. He served as Tophane Counselor for 18 years during the reign of Sultan Abdülhamid II. In 1899, Italian architect Alexandre Vallaury built the 'Tophane Müsiri Zeki Pasa Mansion (Yali)', one of the most valuable estates of Istanbul, on his behalf. In 1908, he fell out of favor with the declaration of the Second Constitutional Monarchy by Union and Progress Society (Ittihat ve Terakki Cemiyeti) and was deported first to Büyükada and then to Rhodes. To 'Münevver Hanim'. Birand was a Turkish academic, university administrator, botanical scholar, and author. He was the first botanist who worked on plant sociology in Turkey. He made efforts to establish the METU-Atatürk Forest, which was established in 1960.
