Plate 55 from Vandermaelen's monumental 'Atlas Universel' showing the New South Wales coast from around Batemans Bay to the Solitary Islands. Sydney the Blue Mountains and hinterland are shown including much of the Lachlan River. Vandermaelen's atlas was 'the first world atlas on a uniform scale. The sixth volume covered "Océanique" and it included seventeen maps of Australia.
