1971139346Hollywood: Paramount Pictures 1971. Script archive built around the Revised First Draft script for the 1972 film. Copy belonging to Burt Bluestein with his name on the title page in holograph pencil and annotations throughout in holograph pencil and ink. Bluestein although not credited at the film's release was presumably involved with production design as indicated by the annotations concerning camera angles and props and his film credits as both assistant director and production manager. The script is accompanied by various interoffice pages like cast and crew lists emergency contact lists shooting schedules and interoffice memos including one discussing the film's hiatus and the possibility of Ron Talsky costume designer working with Otto Preminger during the hiatus. Between this script and the film's release dates Talsky did work for Preminger on his film "Such Good Friends" 1971. <br/><br/>Based on Knowles' 1959 best-selling first novel. Two young teens Finny Heyl and Gene Stevenson consider the draft if it should happen and make their way through school during WWII. <br/><br/>Shot on location in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Actor Heyl's only film credit. <br/><br/>Title page present dated 1971 noted as FIRST DRAFT Revised with credits for novelist Knowles and screenwriter Segal. 163 leaves with last leaf of text being the tenth page of a shooting schedule. Various printing methods with a few manuscript and typed pages and yellow and pink revision pages throughout dated May 1971 yellow and two pages dated Jan 1971 pink. The film was an unexpected success and was nominated for three Academy Awards including Best Picture. Herbie Hancock wrote the soundtrack for the film. A very nice-condition Finnish lobby poster for the 1946 movie A STOLEN LIFE starring Bette Davis & Glenn Ford. The film premiered in Finland in Feb 1947 with no further theatrical release. Slightly outside the usual standard Finnish A2 measuring approximately 16.25" x 22" . Printed by Nordladd & Pettersson signed by the prolific poster-artist Engel in the plate. Condition: C7.5 Very Good/Near Fine A folded poster with one folding crease to middle. There is a tear left edge along the fold line of about 1 inch in length. Small nick lower left edge. No pinholes or other obvious signs of mounting but to the verso there is a penciled date - does not bleed through or affect the image. Small crease to lower right corner. Thinner paper stock commensurate with era but has lasted well. The play debuted at the Shubert Theatre in New Haven in November 1947 before eventually moving to the Ethel Barrymore Theatre on Broadway on December 3 1947. Original black pebbled cloth spine stiffened w/ wood spacers covered in black cloth minor bowing to leaves very minor wear to corners front outer hinge just starting still a VG copy w/ pencil date of 1940 on front pastedown. First edition of this scarce and exceptional photographic sample catalogue filled with the styles of Needler chocolate box assortment and chocolate packaging in the first years of World War II. Initially chocolates had been packed as unwrapped bars in the Victorian era with paper labels displayed on the counter. Later gold printing and metal foils repeated the luxury message of chocolate. Inspired by the innovations of Cadbury the designs for many British fancy chocolate boxes were prized by the British as special gifts to be used as trinket or button boxes and even cut out and saved in scrapbooks. The chocolate boxes in this catalogue include mixed assortments in faux 3-drawer cabinets decorated with fancy ribbons chromolithograph and colour-printed covers featuring historic scenes pets flowersArt Deco designs gold foil and more. Of special interest are the wonderful Needler’s figurine bowls and boxes featuring porcelain figurines dressed in silk fabrics atop bowls or boxes as well as a splendid pair of porcelain bookends “Sweet & Twenty†to hold up the customer’s chocolate boxes. Needler’s began as Fred Needler Ltd. in 1902 when established in Hull by Fred Needler 1865-1932 who began as a confectioner’s assistant in the 1880s. The company was a pioneer in fair treatment of his workforce incorporated profit-sharing for the staff from the beginning and covered sick pay retirement benefits and even established holiday homes in British seaside resort towns. By 1940 the company was one of the largest businesses in Hull with over 2000 employees. The company continued to operate until acquired through multiple buyouts by several different corporations until the label was acquired by Ashbury Confectionary and the factory was closed in Hull in 2002.
