Ad Apollo, signore dell'artificio, Nietzsche attribuisce l'invenzione di ''una nuova mechanē dell'esistenza'', basata non sulla legge del contrasto, ma sulla magia della specularità. La nuova mechanē deve far fronte alla ricostruzione del principio d'identità dopo l'irruzione dionisiaca della modernità. Ma l'opera di ricostruzione non avviene più su basi logiche, bensì mitiche. All'origine di questo progetto, la cui esecuzione coinvolge il mondo sotterraneo dei Titani, l'autore indica la nozione hegeliana di 'fantasia', sorta di ordine parallelo e doppio speculare della ragione storica. In questo universo illusivo e artificiale, in cui domina il segno ambivalente di Apollo, insieme etico ed estetico, il soggetto declina ogni funzione gnoseologica e mantiene la sua integrità come ''cosa tra cose''. Giuseppe Raciti svolge attività di ricerca presso la cattedra di Filosofia morale dell'Università di Catania. È autore di saggi sul modernismo e la filosofia della tecnica.
