The privileges specified in the second text are chiefly commercial and financial in nature; they derive to varying degrees from the Treaty of Perpetual Peace of 1516 Treaty of Fribourg. Armorial copy of Pierre Francis de Lastre with three escutcheons 2 azure and one gold. Full brown morocco binding of the 18th century. Jansenist raised-band spine. Boards stamped with arms in blind with armorial cornerpieces. All edges gilt. Upper joint partly cracked with very slight lacks. Very handsome copy in brown morocco with arms. 'Don't you hate to tie your shoe strings Yes I own that is true.' - Oliver Wendell Holmes." The photograph shows two men one pointing to the clasp on his boot and the other in the midst of using the shoe clasp. Heavy toning foxing and soiling and with chipping to edges. Photograph has moderate yellowing but still presents a crisp image. Good. A great advertisement for the Velcro of the 19th century. Privately printed, n.d. (ca 1880-1890). unknown

The paper is hand-laid with a natural edge. Condition is VERY GOOD ; boards have wear at corners with light shelf wear. Covers are rubbed with some faint foxing. Spine has loss at sides and ends with loss over some of the sewn lines but overall the stitched binding is very sound with a hint of looseness to the front cover. The text is excellent bright clean and clear with some toning to edges and just a few spots/foxing. The title page has the name of "Thos M. Willing May 9 1814" written at top in ink. Thomas Mayne Willing 1767-1822 was the grandson of Charles Willing a mayor of Philadelphia and the son of Thomas Willing 1731-1821 also a mayor of Philadelphis and the president of the Bank of North America. A Valentine's Day promissory note published for the 14th February 1868. The note is in the form of the five pound bank notes issued by the Bank of England in the nineteenth century. Whereas the bank of England promised to pay the bearer of the note five pounds worth of gold. The bear of this note can expect "the entire Love of the supplicant who sends this". The note is endorsed by none other than Cupid Chairman of the Bank of Love who's head office is located at the Temple of Hymen. unknown

Engraving with original hand colour crease to upper part of print trimmed to side neat lines. Trinity House was founded as a pilotage authority and maritime charity. In 1793 their London headquarters was in need of repair and a new site was selected in Tower Hill. A new headquarters designed by Samuel Wyatt was completed by 1796. The trust continues to act as the General Lighthouse Authority for England and Wales to this day. Lincoln July 22 1880'.The author of these two works however remains anonymous and has not been identified by the British Library.The first of these two works dated 1840-1848 is titled 'A Survey of the Antiquities of the City of Lincoln' and is illustrated with an engraved frontispiece and twelve further plates one of which is trimmed and mounted.The second work dated 1848 is titled 'The Stranger's Guide through Lincoln Cathedral' and is illustrated with three plates.Rebacked retaining the original endpapers.Two very scarce works signed by their author describing the city of Lincoln and its chief antiquities.
