51239Germany 1972. Original silk-screened poster partially painted measuring 86 à 61 cm. Trace of glue to corners else about very good. Satirical political poster issued to coincide with the documenta 5 held in 1972 in Kassel. The contemporary art fair's theme during the 1972 iteration revolved around the concepts of "Depiction" and "Reality" "Abbildung" and "Wirklichkeit" which are here being subverted in reference to the horrors perpetrated in Vietnam by the US. The fair's official title was "Questioning Reality - Pictorial worlds today" "Befragung der Realität - Bildwelten heute". Curated by Harald Szeemann it is considered to have been the most important exhibition of contemporary art after World War II. In contrast to documenta 4 the show also included numerous happenings and fluxus events. The silk-screened poster has been partially painted over possibly alluding to dollar signs. The artist's or publisher's name to the lower right corner has been obscured by the paint.

We were unable to find further information about the poster and as of February 2021 it could not be traced via KVK or OCLC. unknown books
51238Germany 1968. Original silk-screened poster printed in black and red measuring 84 à 59 cm. Very good or better. A remarkably drastic anti-war poster issued as a fake poster for the fourth Documenta in Kassel held in 1968. The fourth installment of the famous contemporary art fair - considered the most important European art fair of the decade - heavily featured American art especially Pop Art and Op-Art including works by Andy Warhol. The press conference prior to the opening of the show was interrupted by protests that included artists such as Wolf Vostell and Jörg Immendorff who reacted against the relative lack of political contributions as well the dearth of works of Fluxus and Action art in the exhibition.

The artist and publisher of this work are unknown and as of February 2021 the poster could not be traced by us via KVK OCLC. unknown books

First edition; 5 x 7 1/2; pp. 31; pictorial wraps; very minor wear margins and spine; illustrated with photographs; in about near fine edition. An unusual survivor all the more valuable for its condition 3 years before Finland gained its independence from Russia. The so called Finnish War was fought between Sweden and Russia from February 1808 to September 1809. As a result Sweden surrendered Finland the Eastern third of Sweden to Russia and Tsar Alexander I declared Finland a semi-autonomous Grand Duchy with himself as constitutional monarch represented by a governor general. It was not until 1917 when Finland gained back its independence. The book reads more like a literary work rather that a travel guide for its beautiful flowing descriptions of the scenic route one would experience aboard the steamships from St. Petersburg through Imatra Vuoksenniska and Nyslott to Punkaharju. The last 14 pages are dedicated to advertisements for spas hotels restaurants and even a luxury ship-building company all accessible along the trip. The photographs depict various stunning nature spots and town as well as images of the "Imatra I" and "Imatra II." Not in OCLC or in the trade. Gel'singfors (Helsinki): K. F. Puromies paperback books
