Attractively bound in half leather spine and corners with speckled paper-covered boards. 5 raises bands to the pine with gilt banding and gilt floral decorations to each compartment and a gilt title label. Some rubbling to the extremities as to be expected but hinges sound and overall near VG. All edges red marbled endpapers with an integral green ribbon marker inside. 2 214 pp. This copy belonged to a member of the VIVIAN family of Swansea and has the name of 'John Henry Vivian' and the brother of Hussey Vivian 1st Baron Vivian written neatly in script in old ink on the top of the front free endpaper. TEXT IN GERMAN. AS far as I can gather this was published as a 'counterpart' to Knigges' most famous sociological work - "Umgang Mit Menschen". REGINALD CHARLES EDWARD ABBOT 1842-1919; 3rd Baron Colchester of Colchester from 1867 was a barrister and Conservative Party politician. The only son of Charles Abbot 2nd Baron Colchester of Colchester and the Hon. Elizabeth Susan Law he was educated at Eton College before being admitted to Christ Church Oxford. He was President of the Union Society of Oxford in 1863 and graduated with an M.A. in 1864. In the latter year he became a Fellow of All Souls College. He was Examiner in Law and History at Oxford University from 1869 to 1871. He was called to the bar at Lincolns Inn in 1867.
