2 parties reliées en un fort volume in-12 (128 x 75 mm), plein maroquin olive de l'époque, dos lisse orné de compartiments fleuronnés et cloisonnés, pièce de titre de maroquin bordeaux, triple filet d'encadrement sur les plats, roulette sur les coupes, dentelle intérieure, tranches dorées, (1) f. de titre-frontispice, (24) p. dont titre gravé et portrait, 592, (8) p. de table et 130, (2) p. de table, titre compris. Bonne édition collective, bien complète de la seconde partie publiée en 1659. Elle est ornée d'un titre-frontispice et du portrait de l'auteur gravés en taille-douce par Jacob van Meurs. Cette jolie édition hollandaise, annexée à la collection elzévirienne, est ici dans la seconde des deux émissions de 1657 décrites par Willems, "également jolies et qui se correspondent page pour page et ligne pour ligne". De fait, elle contient l'ensemble des oeuvres du poète: Les lettres, les lettres amoureuses, les poésies les "nouvelles lettres", les métamorphoses, "l'histoire d'Alcidalis et Zélide", la "lettre de monsieur Costar" ainsi que "l'éloge du comte duc d’Olivarès…". Vincent Voiture (Amiens 1597 - Paris 1648) fut l'une des personnalités littéraires les plus en vue de l'hôtel de Rambouillet, membre de l'Académie française et figure de proue de la préciosité. Ses oeuvres ne furent publiées qu'à titre posthume. (Tchemerzine-Scheler, V, 993. Willems, n° 1692). Un infime accroc de cuir. Bel exemplaire, frais, bien relié en maroquin olive de l'époque.
Prima edizione. CON DEDICA Ottimo esemplare (usuale brunitura alla prima e all’ultima carta, tipica dei libri dello «Specchio»). Conserva il pergamino protettivo. Dedica autografa strettamente coeva dell’autore: «A Livio, Iris e cugini Zanzotto con affetto e gratitudine il loro Andrea[,] ottobre 1957». La terza raccolta di versi di Zanzotto, di forte rottura rispetto alle prime due raccolte dell’autore: «Parve a Giorgio Caproni “uno dei libri più belli del dopoguerra, riconoscibilmente nuovo” […] e già Sereni lo riteneva secondo solo a “La bufera e altro”. Pasolini non esitò a definirlo come un libro di “piena crisi” […], perché Zanzotto oggettivizza, problematizzandoli, i presupposti di ogni poesia soggettiva, a partire dall’io, ridotto alla sua «miseria di fatto “grammaticale”» (“Profili dei libri e note alle poesie”, a cura di S. Dal Bianco, in A. Zanzotto, “Le poesie e prose scelte”, 1999, p. 1435), come recita il risvolto di copertina, anonimo ma di mano dell’autore. Alla problematizzazione dell’io, in senso psichico, linguistico e storico-letterario, si uniscono quella del colloquio, ridotto alla pura vocatività, e della lingua, avvertita come transeunte. Uno dei testi fondamentali della cultura italiana del '900. Il volume presenta alcune pagine con margine superiore irregolarmente tagliato e gore diffuse, rilegatura leggermente (e fisiologicamente considerata la tipologia del libro) indebolita ma integra e comunque per il resto si tratta di ottima copia, per il resto ottima copia.

Proche d'un tirage au charbon par ses tons chauds et profonds, la photoglyptie est un procédé photomécanique complexe de reproduction phographique dont l'édition usa durant environ 20 ans, de 1875 à 1895. Cherchant une image idéale et esthétique des hommes célèbres, les plaques étaient toujours retouchées et repeintes, pour gommer une ride disgracieuse ou un défaut trop gênant, lustrer les cheveux, etc. C'est ainsi que la photographie et l'estampe se rejoignent dans une représentation nouvelle. La Galerie Contemporaine devint une maison d'édition qui vendait les images des hommes contemporains, ces images furent assemblées en 8 volumes in-folio par Paul de Lacroix mais continuaient à se vendre à part au siège de la Galerie Contemporaine. Very Good Turkish, Ottoman (1500-1928) First and Only Ottoman Turkish translation and compilation (also in any Turkish / Turkic language) of 12th-century mystic Arab poet Ibn al-Farid [or Fariz] poems, with Mevlevi poet Nazim Pasha's annotations. This rare book includes Yaiyyah, Mimiyyah, and Raiyyah qasidahs styles of classical Arabic verse. Paperback. Cr. 8vo. (19 x 13 cm). In Ottoman script (Turkish with Arabic letters). 159 p. Ibn Farid was born in Cairo of Ayyubid Egypt to parents from Hama in Syria, lived for some time in Mecca, and died in Cairo. His poetry is entirely Sufic and he was esteemed as the greatest mystic poet of the Arabs. Some of his poems are said to have been written in ecstasies. The poetry of Shaykh Umar Ibn al-Farid is considered by many to be the pinnacle of Arabic mystical verse, though surprisingly he is not widely known in the West. Ibn al-Farid's two masterpieces are The Wine Ode, a beautiful meditation on the "wine" of divine bliss, and "The Poem of the Sufi Way", a profound exploration of spiritual experience along the Sufi Path and perhaps the longest mystical poem composed in Arabic. Both poems have inspired in-depth spiritual commentaries throughout the centuries, and they are still reverently memorized by Sufis and other devout Muslims today. Ibn al-Farid claimed to see many things happen that could be considered to be out of this world. He wrote of a lion kneeling down to him and asking him to ride. He also wrote of seeing a man descending a mountain, floating without using his feet. He claimed that a "great green bird" came down at the funeral of the greengrocer and "gobbled up his corpse". He also claimed to have conversed with Muhammad in a dream. Ibn al-Farid's son Kamal al-Din Muhammad described his ecstasies or trances as sometimes lasting ten consecutive days without eating, drinking, moving, speaking, or hearing outside noises. He would alternately stand, sit, lie on his side, and "throw himself down on his side." When he came to, his first words would be a dictation of the verse God had given him. Mehmed Nazim Pasha, (1840-1926) was an Ottoman statesman, governor of Thessaloniki [i.e. Salonica] poet, and translator. He was a Mevlevi. He wrote his mystic poems and he was the grandfather of famous Turkish leftist poet Nazim Hikmet Ran, (1902-1963). Overall a very good copy. Abû-Muhammad Muslih al-Dîn bin Abdallâh Shîrâzî, (1193-1292), better known by his pen name Saadi (or, Sadi, Sa'di), was a major Persian poet and prose writer of the medieval period. He is recognized for the quality of his writings and for the depth of his social and moral thoughts. Saadi is widely recognized as one of the greatest poets of the classical literary tradition, earning him the nickname "The Master of Speech" or "The Wordsmith" (Ostâd-e soxan) or simply "Master" [Ostad] among Persian scholars. He has been quoted in the Western traditions as well. Bustan has been ranked as one of the 100 greatest books of all time by The Guardian. Bustan [i.e. The Orchard] completed in 1257and it's entirely in verse (epic meter). It consists of stories aptly illustrating the standard virtues recommended to Muslims (justice, liberality, modesty, contentment) and reflections on the behavior of dervishes and their ecstatic practices. Gulistan is mainly in prose and contains stories and personal anecdotes. The text is interspersed with a variety of short poems that contain aphorisms, advice, and humorous reflections, demonstrating Saadi's profound awareness of the absurdity of human existence. The fate of those who depend on the changeable moods of kings is contrasted with the freedom of the dervishes. Saadi is also remembered as a panegyrist and lyricist, the author of a number of odes portraying human experience, and also of particular odes such as the lament on the fall of Baghdad after the Mongol invasion in 1258. His lyrics are found in Ghazaliyat [i.e. Lyrics] and his odes in Qasa'id [i.e. Odes]. He is also known for a number of works in Arabic. George Michael Wickens, (1918-2006), the translator of this edition, was a distinguished Canadian-British Persianist as well as Arabist, translator, and a University lecturer. Wickens was fluent in Persian and Arabic and was one of the pioneering figures of Persian literature in Canada. Ogni pagina del testo è racchiusa in delicata cornice xilografata. E’ ornato da numerosi ritratti della casata Borromeo (in medaglione) tutti inc. in rame, e da grandi capilettera figur. a vignetta e finalini, inc. su legno. Questa plaquette - "di estrema rarità" - contiene una raccolta di poesie encomiastiche di autori vari (appartenenti all’Accademia degli Animosi), composte in occasione della laurea del Conte Giberto III Borromeo, e precedute da un saluto al papa Urbano VIII da parte di Carlo Corio, principe di quella Accademia. Lo S.p.A. è tuttavia un libro privo di menabò, che afferma una capacità politica ed editoriale in assoluta estranietà con qualunque processo di determinazione quantitativa (pagine - capitoli - paragrafi) che inevitabilmente ne ridurrebbe la capacità di autodeterminarsi dialetticamente con lo strumento di capienza di una teoricamente pressochè infinita disponibilità d'incidenza, di volta in volta inerzialmente adotatta mediante una prassi sistemica consequenziale di valutazione esente da giudizio.
