"Although Hippocrates already drew attention to the sounds that one perceives when one shakes the body the actual discoverer of auculation and percussion is Laennec a Frenchman in this century. Almost at the same time as Laennee Auenbrugger a doctor in Vienna was working on with percutation. Originally one auscultated and percutated the ear directly at certain parts of the body without using an auditory tube also tapped there with the finger without placing an intermediate body but it was soon discovered that a better sound could be heard if one placed the fingers underneath and that was the reason for the invention of the plessimeter ." normalized Signature.
