An anonymous album of seventeenth through nineteenth century French furniture featuring eighty-five items drawn on twenty-two numbered plates. The plates were printed by V.L. Quetin who published a series of albums of illustration from Le Magasin de Meubles about this time as well as a similar suite of plat Meubles et Sieges Vieux Boise in 1860. All Quetin's albums are rare with o or two copies cited by OCLC. There is some slight darkening along the fore-e on a few leaves and slight edge wear but a very good copy nevertheless. unknown books

First edition of this exceedingly scarce sales campaign catalogue illustrating Doernbecher’s line of Jazz Age bedroom furniture manufactured in Portland OR with an intent to raise the awareness of the fast-growing middle class market of better bedrooms and better furnished homes. The largely pen & ink drawings are designed to appeal to the widest range of Western customers and include specific examples of such stores as the Bellview Furniture Co. Idaho Sheppard & Lawrence Lorraigne CA Procter & Johnstone Home Furnishings Paducah KY and many others. Specific details for the 200 300 400 600 etc. suites are all available with finishes in Walnut Oak Silvertone Ivory and more. Following World War I Doernbecher manufacturing first established in Portland OR in 1921 maintained an assembly line for producing furniture nearly five miles long. All of these are housed in the original sample case covered in green cloth with lid 7 x 15.25 x 13 in. brass handle on one end some wear & rubbing minor bumping & fraying to fore-edges still a VG- exampler. First edition thus of this stunning salesman sample case for silk trimmings used in interior design by the famed Franco Scalamandre’s designers. These samples include French Tufts Rosettes elaborate silk braids borders ribbons tassels and more many of them in traditional styles and colours for use in recovering and restoring furnishings draperies and other period pieces. Scalamandre d. 1988 established Scalamandre Silks in 1929 focused on supplying silk fabrics and trims to the growing movement of restoring historic houses and furnishings in the United States. His plant in Long Island City NY wove historic fabrics to match those acquired by Hearst for San Simeon. He established the Scalamandre Museum of Textiles which thrived until the late 1960s offering beautiful exhibits of historical documents and traditional textiles. His company helped with the restoration of Monticello and was perhaps best known for their reproductions and restorations of draperies wallpapers and upholstery for the Kennedy White House from 1961-1962 and has continued to supply historic fabrics to every administration since. This is a very good hardcover portfolio with the text booklet and 80 loose plates with only light wear. The hardcover portfolio has a printed salmon-colored title label, also the same label on the text booklet. The portfolio boards have a little light fading or discoloration, but still very good. The hard spine of the portfolio has the title printed in salmon colored letters also very good. The text booklet is also very good, with almost no wear, just one tiny inscription to the front endpaper of the booklet. The loose plates are also very clean and fresh. Text by Joseph Lux in German. All plates are reproduced in black & white. Seven drawings of interiors reproduced in black & white in the text booklet. This is the 7th edition of this important collection of Empire and Biedermeier furniture and decorative arts assembled by Joseph Lux and with his introduction and notes. All in all, one of the nicest copies of this we've seen. 13" high X 9" wide, 20 text pages + 80 plates. This book will be securely wrapped and packed in a sturdy box and shipped with tracking.
