"In the first part of this study the organization of thalamocortical projections of the anterior and lateral dorsal or limbicnuclei of the paramedian thalamus to the anterior cingulate gyrus and of the midline nuclei to the hippocampal rudiment of the telencephalon impar in monkey was described and in the second part evidence was presented of a similar organization of these projections in man. This the third part is concerned mainly with the corticocortical connections of the anterior cingulate gyrus with its relationship to the hippocampus and with the problem of the cingulum and of the so-called subcallosal bundle. The same series of sections of the cerebra of 5 rhesus monkeys with bimedial ablations of the pre- and supracallosal cortex of the frontal lobes described in Part I was used. The serial sections of several monkeys with and without cortical ablations from the collections of the Warren Anatomical Museum served as controls."
