Qualche abrasione ai dorsi e al rivestimento dei piatti, lieve mancanza alla cerniera anteriore del V volume, peraltro opera in ottime condizioni legata in mz. pl. coeva con tasselli ai dorsi e fregi oro. Ed. orig. del racconto del viaggio in Italia compito dall'A. che arrivo' fino alla costiera amalfitana. Interessanti e utili le tavole analatiche alla fine dell'ultimo volume con l'elenco alfabetico dei luoghi e dei nomi citati. Antoine Claude Pasquin Valery e' 'una figura ingiustamente confinata ai margini della grande letteratura francese, autore di questa pregevole guida di viaggio sull'Italia, un'opera che, nell?Ottocento, divenne il piu' fedele 'compagnon de route' del viaggiatore romantico... L'amore incondizionato per l'Italia, espresso nel libro, ha contribuito a consacrare il suo successo, proprio nel momento in cui il nostro paese era la meta indiscussa del viaggiatore colto. Ne sono testimonianza le immediate e numerose ristampe, opera soprattutto delle case editrici belghe che, attraverso edizioni contraffatte, concorsero ad accrescere la popolarita' di Valery' (Cristiana Candellero, Universita' degli Studi di Torino, tesi di laurea).

Sm. 4to. original spiral bound photographic covers title in red on yellow spiral binding. Some spotting to spiral binding and a little light creasing to covers but generally a very good copy of a delicate item.Shell Guide no. 11 and one of the best with Piper’s writing design collage endpapers and many of his own photographs as well as two full page reproductions of his drawings. Originally published by Architectural Press in 1936, this one of the first ten titles in this wonderful series edited by Betjeman (see Peterson D4). In 1939 the imprint passed to Faber who replaced the characteristic comb-binding with conventional cloth and standardised the titles. VERY SCARCE, ESPECIALLY IN THIS CONDITION.

It is in decent collectible shape with nice covers. In it are photos of star players in Major League Baseball. There are team photographs and full page shots of the 1913 World 's Series. This season saw the The Philadelphia Athletics A's with Connie Mack eddie Plank eddie Colins Chief Bender Etc beat out the NY New York Giants with John McGraw Christy Mathewson and Jim Thorpe. There is coverage over several pages of the 1913 Series with photos of all the action All Star Cameo photos of the likes of Mathewson Ty Cobb and Shoeless Joe Jackson records of teams and Championships back to 1871 in a section of the book full page Walter Johnson photograph and plenty more. We will be listing a major find of baseball Publications from this source. The book is complete and in NICE SHAPE overall. Inside are the RARE photos mentioned and plenty more such as pages full of photos statistics lists records anecdotes This is an over 100 years old Baseball book. The covers and spine are intact.
