Translated from Chinese to English by David Curtis Wright with the author's help. SIGNED by the author on the half-title page. A heart-wrenching and powerful story about a Chinese man who overcame many hurdles to escape an authoritarian government to ultimately land in Brazil, where he and his family fared well in peace. "Born in 1933, Li Mu, pseudonym of Dr. Yeung Chi Bor, is a Chinese-Brazilian doctor and acupuncturist. He grew up in the Chinese province of Guangdong under the Chinese Communist Regime. Targeted by the authorities as 'landlords', Yeung and his family were persecuted, defamed, tortured, and had their possessions confiscated. His father was executed and he was sent to labor camps. Throughout his struggle for survival, Yeung bore witness to one of the worst atrocities in history. He ultimately escaped as a refugee into Hong Kong in 1962 and, in 1977, made a great leap into the unknown, immigrating to Brazil at the age of 44. Dr. Yeung has three daughters and one son, and lives with his wife in the Brazilian city of Belo Horizonte, in the state of Minas Gerais."

4to. 29, (3) pp. Contemporary boards (dated 1929) by Eva Aschoff, including the original wrappers. First edition of Heidegger's inaugural lecture, presentation copy in a master binding. Inscribed to the singer Walburga Hedwig Elisabeth Gaehtgens (1915-2002) on the half-title: "Frau Walburga / zur Erinnerung / (24. Juli 1929) / Martin Heidegger". The date is that of the lecture. Gaehtgens married the classicist Ernst Zinn (1910-90) in 1938. Zinn's own ownership, dated 1929, is pencilled into the upper right corner of the half-title. He also added a note on the on the inside wrapper cover: "Binding: Eva Aschoff, Freiburg im Breisgau, 1929". Thus, Zinn acquired the copy in 1929, and it was likely signed by Heidegger in or after 1938. Heidegger and Zinn knew each other since 1929 and kept in contact until the philosopher's death in 1976. - The binding, commissioned by Zinn, is a work by the artist and master bookbinder Eva Aschoff (1900-69), decorated with blue and black circles, lines, and coloured spaces. An additional note by Zinn, dated 1961, is added in blue ink at the lower edge of the half-title. - Binding slightly browned, rubbed and bumped, one corner a little bent. Interior somewhat foxed or browned.

Führung der Wiener Bach-Kantorei auf universitärer Ebene auch Musik und evangelische Theologie lehrte. Mit neunzeiliger, signierter und datierter Widmung des Autors auf dem vorderen Vorsatz an den ehemaligen Austrofaschisten, Widerständler gegen die Nazis und hochrangigen ÖVP-Politiker Alois (Lois) Weinberger (1902-61): "Seiner Exzellenz / Herrn Minister a.
