Exceedingly scarce in commerce our offering being the only extant copy available at time of cataloguing. Equally scarce amongst institutional holdings corresponds to OCLC #855384448. Sturtevant Co. of Hyde park Boston Mass. was a big engineering firm even before the advent of the new science of aeronautics. Whilst the First World War was raging in Europe The Sturtevant Aeroplane Co. 1915-1918 was formed by the parent company to develop military aircraft. . They produced a number of aircraft for both the army and the navy in particular the "Battle" S4 aeroplane of naval type and the USN bought 12 of those machines whose inner structure was all metal a rather innovative approach for the time applied by Mr. Grover Loening Sturtevant's chief designer. . however it wasn't an elegant nor fast nor agile aircraft." The company also "designed developed and produced a number of high quality high performance aero engines. The 5A here advertised was only produced through 1917. It was "was installed in the Sturtevant S-4 and some L.W.F. V-1 training airplanes used by the Signal Corps at North Island Calif. and Mineola New York. Neither of these airplanes was too successful . Part of their difficulty resulted from the 5A engine which weighed more than 3.5 pounds per horsepower." sturtivant.org. (a mosque and a ship). Used pen and pencils during the notebook. Notes written between the years of 1926-1930. Full; only several pages are blank. Signatures on first pages and cover. Starting date is September, 11, 1926. Notebook mostly includes his lecture and personal notes on navigation. Some of chapters: It starts with an epigraph by Doris (?). Notes from fantastic realms (wonders of the world): Hanging Gardens of Babylon, Colossus of Rhodes, Great Pyramids of Egypt, Statue of Zeus at Olympia, the Lighthouse of Alexandria, etc. and their descriptions.; There are his course scores section in the name of 'Müzakere notlari'.; Navigation history notes.; His exam dates.; Diary for some days showing naval education in early Republican Turkey and some personal notes.; Some poems.; 'Beginning English for the Levant'.; Morse Alphabet with Ottoman script, etc. Cloth margins slightly rubbed, no missing. There is original pen pocket of note book, however its pen is missing. Some pages designed as an alphabetical index personally by writer. Otherwise it's a very good manuscript. All approximately 34.5 x 49.5 printed on the recto only in ten columns. Each column serves a different purpose: serial number; date; name of the trader; number of bags; destination; number of wooden crates; weight; taxes; signature of the recipient; and instructions for the tax collector. Documents permitting and taxing the movement of opium by the Government of Gwalior. The name of the trader on one of the documents has been identified as "Bhakim Chand Pijara." These documents were sold in a single lot at Superior Galleries Los Angeles January 16 2001 Session Two lot 847. The translation was done by an academic in New Delhi India for a librarian at Stanford University on behalf of the previous owner a private collector. <br/><br/> Gwalior, India, 1892-93 unknown books

An early and very rare partly manuscript document of the Dersaadet Constantinople branch of the Russian Bank for Foreign Trade on "Joyston Superfine" watermarked paper signed by the branch manager with two Ottoman stamps 38x235 cm. In Ottoman script Old Turkish with Arabic letters. Blank verso two slight stains on the paper otherwise a clean and well-preserved document. Extremely rare in the market and institutional holdings. The official document written by the Dersaadet Istanbul branch of the bank to the Turkish Supreme Court regarding the estate of a Greek citizen who was notified to the bank in 1926 and the lawsuit filed between close relatives regarding this inheritance. Turkish transcription of the document: "Istanbul Mahkeme-i Asliye Altinci Hukuk Dairesi Riyâset-i Âlîsi'ne Reis beyefendi hazretleri Aleksandra Kesisoglu terekesine dair Mahkeme-i Âlîlerinizin 20 Kanunsani 1926 tarihçeli ve 57-182 adedli tezkîresi 23 Kanunsani 1926 tarihinde Rus Ticâret-i Hariciyye Bankasi'na teblig kilindi. The Russian Bank for Foreign Trade was one of a group of banks in Saint Petersburg that played an important part in Russian international trade in the second half of the nineteenth century and up to the Russian Revolution between 1871-1917. The bank was one of the largest in Russia prior to the revolution and it was nationalised by a decree of 14 December 1917 leading to a legal battle in France over its deposits in that country.
