Solida legatura settecentesca in piena pergamena rigida con dorso interamente decorato. Qualche rada ed ininfluente macchietta, ma complessivamente esemplare genuino e molto ben conservato. Rara edizione originale (ed unica) di questa storia ecclesiastica di Bergamo la cui curiosità è inoltre la metafora sul vino e sulla vigna.

Rutilio Tauro Emiliano Palladio viene annoverato tra gli Scriptores Rei Rusticae o Geoponici, ovvero quel grupppo di autori greci o romani che scrissero in tema di allevamento e di agricoltura. La presente opera, in latino con titolo ''Opus agriculturae'' o ''De re rustica'', si divide in tredici libri: il primo ha carattere introduttivo mentre i successivi dodici libri riproducono una sorta di calendario rurale (uno per ciascun mese). L'organizzazione della materia sotto forma calendario (e quindi con finalità pratiche che non superano l'orizzonte della quotidianità) è forse l'aspetto più originale e interessante dell'opera di Palladio e documenta il ripiegamento del sistema agricolo verso forme non più orientate al mercato e allo scambio tipico della tarda antichità. (omesse nella numerazione le pp. 145-154); marca tipografica al frontespizio (in cornice: porta con architrave sorretta da colonne. Motto: Iusti intrabunt per eam). La parola “TRATTATO” del titolo ha il carattere tipografico “A” rovesciato. Nell’opera “non solo tutte le virtù, & i vitij di quelli minutamente si palesano; ma anco i rimedij per correggere i loro difetti copiosamente s’insegnano: tanto nell’apparecchiarli per l’uso, quanto nell’ordinare il modo di riceverli”. Simon ritiene l’opera del Pisanelli uno dei più celebrati trattati di dietetica del suo tempo. Comprende liste di cibi e di vini suddivisi per categorie (selvaggina, pesce, frutta, verdura, condimenti, vini rossi e bianchi, ecc.) e descrive le loro proprietà nutrizionali, la storia naturale e altro ancora.
