Five sepia toned original photographic postcards of the Bennett College for Girls in Millbank Dutchess County New York a school founded in 1890 in Irvington New York which moved to this location in 1907. Its main building Halcyon Hall was built in 1893 by H. J. Davison Jr. a publisher from New York. Designed by James A. Ware it was meant to be a luxury hotel but the hotel never caught on. It served as a school into the late1970's and today lies in a state of disrepair. Near Fine the cards curled. Four of the cards are 9 1/2" w x 3 1/2" h the last 8 3/4" w x 3 1/2" h. . Postcard. The narrator if not the author was evidently a doctor and writes here about some of his cases. Advertising broadside; 14 x 8 1/2; cream stock printed in black; several old fold lines; a bit of age-toning to verso; very good condition. At first sight published by an anonymous supporter the broadside was quite obviously released by Householder himself whom advertised a "free name analysis" for anybody who would buy his book "The Four Basic Principles of Numerology" which was in turn published under the name Frank Householder. Although not much is known about him he claimed he was the World's Greatest Numerologist and worked in the Los Angeles area in the early 20th century. The broadside assured people they would have their soul number and name vibration harmonized and would live a life of privilege. It also contained a convenient order form for the book. S. n. The 104-gun first-rate ship of the line of the Royal Navy was ordered in 1758 and launched in 1765. It would become best known for being Lord Nelson's flagship at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. Throughout the 19th century it also served as a troopship and a prison ship. Moved to dry dock in 1922 the ship went through several major restoration periods eventually became a museum part of the National Historic Fleet and since October 2012 HMS Victory has been the flagship of the First Sea Lord. A beautiful Art Nouveau advertising broadside for the inks of The Ault & Wiborg Co. The company a manufacturer of dry color dyes pigments and printing inks was founded in 1878 in Cincinnati Ohio by Levi Addison Ault and Frank Bestow Wiborg. In the 1870s Ault a French-Canadian moved from Ontario Canada to Cincinnati Ohio to join his brother and to work for a company dealing in lampblack and rosins. Wiborg a Norwegian-American was also hired by the business as a salesman. The two of them put up $10 000/each as initial capital and launched The Ault & Wiborg Co. in July of 1878 announcing that they aim to become the biggest producer of inks in the US and eventually in the world and coming up with their business motto: "Hic et Ubique" Here and Everywhere. Robert Simpson Woodward 1849 - 1924 was a renowned civil engineer physicist matematician professor at Columbia and president of the Carnegie Institution of Washington the American Mathematical Society and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Menu card; 6 3/4 x 4; beige card stock with a chromolithograph illustration of two birds standing on a branch on recto and text on verso; a few faint spots to left margin; two closed cuts to top and right edges; lower right corner creased; upper left corner with a small indentation most probably as published and starting out as a hole for tying a string through it; in about good condition. A beautiful menu it outlined a lavish multi-course dinner feast for December 24 1889 and was published by the Van Ness and American Hotels two landmark hotels in Vermont under joint management. Their proprietor was Urban Andrain Woodbury 1838 - 1915 - Civil War veteran businessman Mayor of Burlington Lieutenant Governor and 45th Governor of Vermont. The menu included Shoulder of Mutton Minced Beef on Toast Wine Jelly Chocolate Bavarian Cream etc. Interestingly enough the two birds in the illustration appeared to be to this untrained eye a pair of Western Tanagers songbirds of the Cardinal family found along the West Coast of North America from Baja California to Alaska and nowhere near Vermont.
