195067276Created in Canada: Various 1950. Leather and cloth over boards. Labels range from fair to very good.
Hardcover 1/4 leather purple over cloth grey over boards. A collector's album with 31 numbered cardstock leaves originally meant to collect greetings cards from the "Imperial City" series but instead has been repurposed to hold 873 separate labels from predominately Canadian companies. Dates range roughly between the 1920s-1950s with a few earlier and later outliers. The labels cover a wide range of products but the majority come from alcohol and beverages candy spices and food and household sundries. Most of the labels are glued into the album with a few stapled in. The glue has held for the most part with a couple labels starting to come loose. The last five pages contain several excised pages from an unknown source depicting Canadian military regiments. General condition of the labels runs from fair to very good; these labels were cut out assembled and displayed with care. There has been some bleed through from the glue on some of the leaves. The album itself is in fair condition - the cardstock pages are bound tight but the boards are considerably worn.
. Various unknown

The greater portion is devoted to the description of a supposed island in the South Seas inhabited by a community of refugees who had escaped the horrors of the French Revolution and had established a republic there on socialist principles Ferguson.Davidson considers it a desirable addition either to a collection of La Pérouse items or to a library of fictitious voyages. The uncertainty regarding the publication date of this rare book Ferguson Sabin and Kroepelien give 1795 while Gove and the Library of Congress catalog give 1798 was eventually resolved by the discovery of a contemporary advertisement by David Forbes confirming the first date.
