Relación de los sucesos del ejército español al mando del Cardinal Infante don Fernando de Austria en el norte de Italia y Francia en el contexto de la Guerra Franco-Española 1635-1659 durante la llamada "campaña de Francia" de 1636 un conjunto de operaciones militares desarrolladas por el ejército español tras la entrada de Francia en la Guerra de los Treinta Años; en concreto del sitio de Dôle ciudad francesa del departamento de Jura que resistió un asedio francés de más de dos meses. Dôle fue la capital del Franco Condado español hasta que Luis XIV conquistó la región el 6 de junio de 1674 y trasladó el parlamento de Dôle a Besanzón. A pesar de las dificultades económicas y logísticas a las que se tuvo que enfrentar para mantener la guerra con Francia y las Provincias Unidas 1636 fue un año de importantes victorias del ejército español derrotando sucesivamente a las tropas francesas en La Capelle Le Catelet Vervins y Corbie llegando hasta las puertas de París. Toda la familia real a excepción del monarca Luis XIII huyó de la ciudad ante la amenaza de las tropas españolas. The text and typesetting of the present copy corresponds with the copy in the SIM collection however the pagination differs. Other copies sold at auction likewise note pagination errors. A rendering into English of the poetical form of this ancient cycle of folk tales with the crafty Reinard Renard Rynard as its central protagonist. The author of the present work is unknown though the translation has been taken from the German of Hartmann Schopper a 16th century poet who fought in the Habsburg-Ottoman wars and became acquainted with then Emperor Maximillian to whom he dedicated his rendition. An account of the life and death of the criminal Thomas Savage who was twice executed a cautionary tale for youth.In 1688 Savage murdered a maid at his Master's house hitting her with a hammer. This tale explains how Savage had already shown his evil tendencies by not attempting church on the Sabbath which was illegal at the time. Savage was executed twice the first attempt to kill him being unsuccessful thus shocking everyone when he suddenly started breathing once more. In a full rebacked calf binding. Externally generally smart with minor marks to the boards. Light bumping to the extremities. Minor rubbing to the extremities. A small amount of wear to the front paste down. Internally firmly bound. Pages are age-toned with the occasional spot. Pages are a little closely cropped to the tail only affecting the signatures. A delightful aid for the study of the night sky. In the original Dutch.A very scarce planisphere a moveable guide to reading the stars and an invaluable aid for stargazers. The first planisphere is thought to have been made in 1624 by German astronomer Jacob Bartsch. The days and months of the year are marked on the outer portion of the work with the constellations visible at a particular date and time visible through the elliptical plastic aperture in the overlay.Moving portions are in full working order.A small hole to the head of the work appears to indicate that this planisphere was intended to be used as a decorative wall hanging. In the publisher's original binding with two paper covered boards connected by a metal stud and thus revolving and with a plastic aperture to the front board. Spotting to front board which is lightly age toned. Small 1" closed tear to the plastic. Moving parts in full working order. Light handling marks to head and tail of rear board.
