Original 16mm film reel for the 1978 animated short "Make Me Psychic" created by animator Sally Cruikshank and featuring music by the Cheap Suit Serenaders Robert Armstrong Allan Dodge and Paul Woltz. <br/><br/>"Make Me Psychic" a followup to her lauded short film "Quasi at the Quackadero" features Cruikshank's recurring duck characters Quasi and Anita in a psychedelic adventure in which Anita uses a hypnotizing machine to try and harness her psychic powers instead ending up hallucinating while never leaving her own overflowing bathtub. An innovator in her field with a signature flowing style of motion Cruikshank created music videos for Sesame Street between 1989 and 1999 won the 1986 Maya Deren Award given by the American Film Institute and "Quasi at the Quackadero" was selected for the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress in 2009. <br/><br/>Near Fine housed in a Near Fine plastic film canister and a Very Good plus metal-cornered shipping box with Cruikshank's Berkeley address to the box and film reel. [Scienze varie] (cm. 16.3) Ottima piena pergamena originale con unghie e tracce di lacci. - cc., 8 nn., cc. 166, c. 1 con registro e bella marca tipografica a piena pagina in xilografia, fregi e capilettera figurati, carattere corsivo. Opera curiosa e rara. Tratta di, aritmetica, musica, astrologia, intelletto, sapienza, religione, politica, ragione, passioni, virtù, fede, angeli, arti magiche, e molte altre cose. L'edizione originale apparve nel 1556 e fu tratta dall'opera di Alfonso Della Torre, "Vision deleytable de la philosophia." Scritta nel 1484. Anche gli Spagnoli avevano dimenticato che l'opera apparteneva alla loro letteratura e fu ristampata in Spagnolo col nome di Delfino, confronta in proposito le varie edizioni in Palau. Molto raro manca all'Adams, BM.STC., Wellcome, Waller, Durling e Moranti. Il CENSUS ICCU dichiara 12 copie nelle biblioteche italiane. Seconda edizione (prima Roma, Blado 1564) di fortunato cerimoniale dedicato ai riti per la nomina di cardinali e vescovi. L'opera apparve postuma: delle numerose composizioni del Grassi sulle cerimonie pontificie nessuna fu pubblicata in vita, tanto da far sospettare che non le volesse divulgare per mantenerne l'esclusiva. Scritto probabilmente nel 1508 (come si desume da una nota su una copia manoscritta dell'opera conservata presso la Biblioteca Palatina di Parma) il Cerimoniale godette di discreta fortuna venendo stampato quattro volte nel XVI secolo. La presente edizione venne curata da Francesco Mucanzio, nipote del Grassi, e dedicata al Cardinale Otto Troches. Al f. 113 inizia una parte musicata ''De tonis sive tenoribus orationum...''. Il Grassi (1470-1528) fu noto Maestro di Cerimonie per Giulio II e Leone X. Al titolo 2 timbri di antiche biblioteche e nota di possesso ms. dell'abate ''Leonardi Marsilii Senensis'' (1641-1713). Edges are rubbed; small snag on the title page with no loss; some foxing; but a very remarkable survivor and an extremely rare book.</p><p>First and Only Edition. This Volume of 26 brief lessons and explanatory diagrams was produced to accompany the author's 'Nouvelle Méthode pour l'Enseignement de la Musique' which was also issued in Brest & Paris in 1832. Heugel describes himself on the title page as a 'Marchand de Musique et d'Instruments.' The hiccup in the pagination is due to the insertion of a four page signature printed on the interior pages only and with one recto marked '25 with a large diagram of the transposition of keys. The book was offered for 5 francs to subscribers and 6 francs to non subscribers and the lists on the rear cover and the final leaf of text provide the names and addresses of the subscription locations in Paris & Brest. OCLC locates but a single copy of the 'Nouvelle Methode.' and none of this work.</p><p>The item is housed at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester N.Y. but there are not a single copy of this companion volume listed anywhere. Two-page introduction by Ivor Novello followed by seventy-two pages of affectionate caricatures printed in black and red and mostly several to a page of the stage celebrities of the day. These had originally appeared in The Tatler magazine. It was after his meeting with Novello in Stockholm in 1918 that Einar Nerman moved to London for almost all of the 1920's. The front endpapers show his caricature of dancers at Novello's Fifty-Fifty Club for which he had provided the mural decorations. The rest of the images show the performers in their stage personas.Many of the subjects have signed their images often more than once as they appear several times.
