1937000985New York: H.M. Publishing Co. 1937. First Edition . Pictorial Wrappers. Very Good Plus. 9.5" x 6.75. Quintana George Cover. New York: H.H. Publishing Co. 1937; February 1937 issue volume 4 no. 2. Adult purchase only. Pin-up pulp "Good Girl" light erotica piece with an extraordinarily fetching and classic "Good Girl" cover illustration a scarce one by the somewhat mysterious Georges George Quintana featuring a perky young lass stretching her arms on a love seat with cushion clad in.not much; basically a transparent negligee. Executed in that enchanting period style of Quintana Enoch Bolles and a very few others. 9.5" x 6.75" 66 pp. pictorial wrappers. In quite handsome and bright condition for a piece from this genre and era; two small closed tears one at top left and the other at bottom left of the cover a rubber stamped start on the cover and a millimeter or two of wear at the tip ends of the spine are about all there is to mention. Otherwise bright sharp full of pep and vinegar. Very near to near fine for a pulp periodical but formally it;s a very good plus. Pulp-paper contents are only lightly age toned primarily in the margins and are quite supple. Bright tight and striking. Contents include a 14-page black & white nude photographic section and a number of b&w "good girl" line drawings some nude as illustrations of the several included pieces of soft-erotica pulp fiction. These illustrations were clearly by a number of different artists all in "Good Girl" interpretations and all uncredited. A fascinating and very scarce title and number from a uniquely American pulp genre in rather spectacular condition with a nearly peerless Good Girl cover. Purchaser must be over 18 years of age please due to the nude photographic section though it is actually rather soft by today's standards. LG-1

H.M. Publishing Co. unknown

175012465c.1750-1800. 494 by 310mm 19.5 by 12.25 inches. Drawing in ink with visible pencil guide lines. A drawing of Saint Pancras Wells. The area around what is now King's Cross was famous for its medicinal springs and there were several wells in the area where Londoners could go to take the waters. The stones illustrated in the caption below the image were supposedly voided by people who had drunk the waters at St Pancras: they were also claimed as a cure for scrofula leprosy and scurvy. The wells were named after the church thought to be one of the oldest in England which is visible in the background. The Wells grew into a destination for daytrippers as well as invalids: there were two pump rooms tree-lined avenues for walking and a dining hall that could seat 200 people. A public house the Adam and Eve was built next to the church itself visible in the print. This drawing or one similar was amongst those reproduced by the forger Peter Thompson. The British Museum holds two variants but the present copy has most in common with the earlier variant. BM 19271126.1.24.1. unknown
